From chapter 1
The idea

Present-you does something. Future-you gets the benefit.

Put the bill on autopay so you do not forget it. Set up an automatic investment so you do not have to make the same decision every paycheck. Make your lunch tonight.

Little things stack. More importantly, they build the habit of not constantly handing work to a later version of yourself.

Chapter 1 · Tomorrow is usually something small
Try it tonight

Pick one ordinary thing you know tomorrow-you will appreciate. The task itself almost does not matter. The point is practicing the handoff.

What's inside

Fifteen short conversations

Each chapter is one idea, a story from Antonio's own life, and something you can do tomorrow morning. Read one. Sit with it for a minute. Ask whether any of it applies to you.

  1. Where you are now
  2. 1

    Help Yourself Tomorrow

The ideas are simple. Actually doing something with them is the harder part.

  3. 2

    Get Your Life Together

Planning is useful. Planning forever is another way to avoid starting.

  4. 3

    Take Care of Yourself

You just need to start taking care of the person you already are.

  5. 4

Build a Body That Takes Care of You

What once looked impossible can become your baseline.

  6. 5

Eat Like You Give a Damn

I am not giving up pasta. I am paying attention to the rest of the picture.

  7. 6

    Money Is a Tool

More income should buy at least some more freedom, not only more obligations.

  8. 7

    Start Investing Before You're Ready

You can earn more money later. You cannot go back and buy another ten years.

  9. 8

    Build Something You Own

Not everything you build has to make money. It should make your life worth something to you.

  10. 9

Learn How to Figure It Out

"I don't know" is not the answer. It is the starting point.

  11. 10

    Your Time Is Your Life

The ordinary stuff becomes the years.

  12. 11

    Choose Your People Carefully

You do not always need a villain. Sometimes two lives stop fitting the same way.

  13. 12

    Prepare Before You Need To

Preparation does not make you lucky. It gives bad luck less room to wreck everything around it.

  14. 13

    Make the Good Choice Easier

Your best decisions are not always made when your energy is lowest.

  15. 14

Don't Optimize the Fun Out of Life

At some point close the spreadsheet and go golfing.

  16. 15

I Need to Help Myself Tomorrow

I have spent this whole book telling you to help yourself tomorrow. Now I have to live it too.

About the author

Antonio Brank

Antonio is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he wrote Help Yourself Tomorrow at twenty-five. The idea came from looking back at a year of goals he had written down and not gone after the way he meant to.

He likes writing things down, making plans, and figuring things out for himself. Those habits pushed him to think harder about health, money, investing, relationships, time, and preparation. Along the way he went from a first 5K to the Pittsburgh Half Marathon, without ever calling himself a runner.

Outside of writing he enjoys lifting, golf, cooking, traveling, Pittsburgh sports, video games, and time with the people closest to him.

He is still working on everything in this book too.

Chapter 15

Pick one thing.

You do not need to feel transformed. You need a first move.
